Colors on the Move - Science Experiment -

This is a really neat science experiment for you and your little ones to do. It's easy and it's fun.  We found this experiment here at the American Chemical Society website for kids.

It's called Colors on the Moooove!

Gather your ingredients.  You will need: Milk, dish soap, food coloring, dishes, ear swabs.

Poor the milk into your shallow dish.

Add your food coloring into the milk.

Use your ear swab and get a little bit of dish soap on the end of it.

Dip the ear swab with the end dipped in the dish soap down into the food coloring.

It's magic!

Keep doing it and watch the colors move away from the sides too.

It reminded me of a fun experiment that we did when I was a little kid.  Put water in a shallow dish and add pepper.  Dip a toothpick (or ear swab) into dish soap.  Dip the toothpick into the water.  Voila!  The pepper runs away to the edge of the plate.  We always used to pretend we were performing a magic show.  And it is very fun to give someone else a toothpick with NO dish soap on it and watch them try and duplicate your magic trick.  :)

Have a Hats and Chickadees day!
